AI in Hiring at ESW | Our Approach to Responsible Recruitment

AI in Hiring at ESW showing a candidate using AI responsibly during the recruitment process

AI in Hiring at ESW is designed to enhance the recruitment experience while ensuring that people remain at the heart of every hiring decision.

How AI Can Help you as a Candidate

We’re comfortable with candidates using AI to help them put their best foot forward.

That might include using AI to improve the grammar or formatting of a resume, prepare for interviews, brainstorm ideas, organize notes, or better articulate their experience. AI can also play an important role in accessibility through tools such as captioning, speech-to-text, or text-to-speech.

We’re increasingly using AI across our business to enhance productivity and improve how we work. As a result, we value candidates who are curious about AI and can demonstrate how they’ve used it thoughtfully in their work, studies, or personal projects. We encourage sharing examples of how you use AI, what tools you’ve explored, and how you balance efficiency with critical thinking and good judgement.

What matters most is that your application and interview still reflect you. AI can help you prepare, but it shouldn’t speak for you.

Finally, AI note-taking during interviews is generally fine, but only if everyone in the interview agrees to it first and appropriate privacy safeguards are in place. Please ensure your note-taking tool won’t share data from the interview with third parties.

What You Should Avoid As A Candidate

AI should be used to help you shine, not to misrepresent who you are or what you’ve done. That includes using it to invent experience, fabricate qualifications or references, or creating deepfakes or impersonations

We also ask candidates not to use AI to manipulate or circumvent tools that may be part of the hiring process, for example by adding to their resume or application hidden instructions or prompt injections.

During interviews, we’d like to hear from you. That means no live AI assistance generating answers in real time, whether that’s through scripts, teleprompters, second devices, listen-and-respond tools, or other AI-powered helpers.

Similarly, AI shouldn’t be used to fully create the work we’re directly evaluating, such as take-home assignments, code samples, portfolios, or writing exercises, unless we’ve explicitly said it’s allowed. If we’re assessing your work, we want to see what you can do.

Please also avoid sharing confidential interview materials or non-public company information with external AI tools. Privacy and confidentiality matter to everyone involved.

And finally, while AI can make applying for jobs much easier, we recommend being thoughtful about where you apply. We’d much rather see applications from candidates whose skills and experience genuinely align with the role.

How We Use AI

We use it in ways that help make our hiring process more efficient and inclusive.

For example, AI may help us improve recruitment communications, reduce biased language in job descriptions, or identify potential candidates on professional networking platforms. Every candidate profile, however, is always reviewed by a human recruiter.

During interviews, we may use AI-powered transcription or note-taking tools so interviewers can focus on the conversation rather than taking notes. Participation is always optional, and choosing not to use these tools will never affect your application.

We may also use AI to support interview preparation, such as researching topics or helping structure interview questions.

What We’ll Never Do

Our approach to AI in Hiring at ESW focuses on transparency and fairness. There are some areas where we believe human judgement is essential. If a tool reduces our ability to make decisions ourselves, we won’t use it. Whether a candidate moves forward in the process or not, the final decision is always made by a person.

The Bottom Line

We believe AI works best when it supports people rather than replaces them.

We encourage candidates to use AI responsibly as a tool for learning, preparation, and productivity. In return, we’re committed to using AI in ways that improve the hiring experience while ensuring that every candidate is evaluated fairly, thoughtfully, and by real people.

Because at the end of the day, hiring is still about people.
